Celebrities now days make being a blonde look all too easy but it’s no secret that they have an extensive and carefully planned out hair care routine to keep their blonde locks looking luscious and vibrant. We have done the research for you and in this blog post, we are going to share with you all the tips and tricks including how to neutralize brassiness with some of the best purple shampoos’s on the market, how to keep your hair feeling hydrated and luscious with some serious TLC haircare and even how to disguise your roots in between your touch up appointments.
We thought it would be best to break this down into steps and listed all the best Blonde Haircare to help you maintain your hair and always keep it looking fresh.
STEP 1: CHOOSING THE RIGHT SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
When you first colour your hair it’s important to switch your hair washing system to a formula that is specifically built for colour-treated hair, these formula’s are built to protect and maintain your colour. As a blonde, you need to be gentle and wash less and when choosing your products avoid any products that are going to be too harsh or going to strip your hair, opt for products that are sulfate-free so you don’t strip your hair from your natural oils as this will leave your hair feeling dry and dull.
The number 1 thing we recommend for blondes and I am sure you have heard this before, is to start using a purple shampoo this will become the staple in your blonde haircare routine. When you first get your hair lightened the first stage result is what’s called “raw blonde” after this result is achieved your hairstylist will mix up a toner to match your desired colour style, the toner will counteract the under-tones (usually these are yellow, yellow/orange and can even have red tones) In between your touch-up appointments you will notice that your hair starts to turn a brassy shade, the purple shampoo contains violet pigments that are used to counteract the yellow/brassy tones in your hair.
As important as purple shampoo is this shouldn’t be the only shampoo you use, there is such a thing as over-toning when it comes to purple shampoo and I’m sure you have seen this from time to time, it’s not a great look and it’s actually not good for your hair, it will start to make your hair look darker and start approaching a grey tone. A good rule to follow, if you shampoo once a week, use the purple shampoo the first week and use a gentle shampoo the next week and follow with cycle. If you shampoo your hair twice a week alternate between the two products.
A great tip for purple shampoo is too ensure your hair is completely wet/damp from roots to ends before applying the product and remember your ends do not need the same amount of product or processing time as your roots.

STEP 2: ADD A REVIVING TREATMENT TO YOUR ROUTINE
We mentioned earlier that blonde hair requires a lot of maintenance and this includes using a hydrating and nourishing treatment. If you’re not a blonde naturally than this generally means your hair is damaged and dehydrated, it’s thirsty for hydration. Treatments have active ingredients made to repair and deeply condition and hydrate your hair.
Some of our favourite blonde treatments are:
A great tip is to book a professional smoothing and hydrating appointment in a salon to ensure your blonde locks remain silky smooth and hydrated, our favourite product on the market is Agi One, Agi uses a unique technology that releases nanoparticles directly into and onto the hair shaft to smooth and condition hair.
This dual-action technology enables hair to begin repairing from the inside while creating a protective layer on the outside of the hair shaft.
Unlike traditional keratin treatments, AGI ONE is based on silk proteins and amino acids to aid the hair and its health. A key product feature is that it doesn’t contain any formaldehyde.
STEP 3: PROTECT YOUR HAIR WHEN USING HEAT STYLING
This is not the first time you have heard this I’m sure but heat protectant sprays really are your best friend when it comes to battling hydration and ensuring your hair stays damage-free. Extensive heat styling especially when you have chemically lightened hair can lead to damaged hair so in addition to using a great heat-protectant and finishing spray it might be a good idea to lay down the hairdryer, hair straightener or curling wand once or twice a week and rock a natural style. Also, you know those nasty yellow undertones we talked about earlier? They can actually be caused by extensive heat styling or sun exposure when they aren’t protected properly.
A good Hair Protectant should protect your hair from high levels of heat and also protect your hair from UVA and UVB rays caused by the sun. Not only does the right heat protectant spray to prevent damage to your hair but it also reduces frizziness and leaves your end hair result looking shiny and hydrated.

STEP 4: ENSURE YOUR STYLIST IS USING THE CORRECT COLOUR
When attending a salon you are putting all your trust in the stylist so it’s important to ask the correct questions and know what active ingredients should be in your colour. Our favourite colour range on the market, especially for blondes, is a relative newcomer onto the scene Colour Ink Professional, CIP spent years perfecting their formula to ensure it removed all nasty and unnecessary chemicals. Their colour range is also vegan and gluten-free, the range of colours also offers something completely unique, it has its own built-in plex there is no need to add cureplex or olaplex to the formula meaning the plex will directly penetrate the hair follicle leaving your hair un-damaged and hydrated.
We hope this guide on how to look after and care for your blonde hair has helped and answered all the questions you have based around your hair care routine.
